THREE talented musicians are set to share their skills before taking to the stage in the first Helensburgh Music Society Concert of the year.
The Kosmos Ensemble, comprising Harriet MacKenzie on violin, Meg Hamilton on Viola and Milos Milivojevic, will run a family workshop for children at The Tower Digital Arts Centre on Saturday, January 13, before taking to the stage in the evening.
The workshop will be tailored to meet the individual needs of those attending and promises to be creative and unique, building up confidence in music through games.
Each instrument is introduced in turn through a musical journey, featuring music from all around the world.
The children take part in a variety of games and activities concentrating on developing their listening skills and their sense of rhythm and ensemble.
They will then teach songs which participants will be able to perform with Kosmos at the end of the session.
Kosmos, who have experience in musical outreach and educational work will run the workshop on Saturday from 3.30-4.30pm.
The workshop is free to attend and anyone interested is asked to head along to the Tower Digital Arts Centre for the start time.
Following the workshop, the internationally acclaimed trio will take to the stage at 7.30pm.
Harriet, Meg and Milos have created a programme unique to Kosmos, which is inspired by music from all around the globe.
Wild Gypsy fiddling, emotive Jewish and Greek music glides seemlessly into hot-blooded tango, alongside interpretations of Japanese, Polish and Sephardic songs.
The programme to be performed in Helensburgh will include new arrangements by and for the ensemble, with reference to classical composers including Bach, Brahms and Sarasate.
The trio, who have performed all over Europe, as well as at the UK’s most prestigious music festivals and venues, are looking forward to performing in Helensburgh.
Tickets for the concert are priced at £12, £5 for students and £1 for under 18s and are available online from helensburghboxoffice.com/live or at The Tower Digital Arts Centre in advance or on the door on Saturday.
