Popular Greek singer Giorgos Tsalikis is coming to Birmingham.

The 41-year old who studied medicine before discovering his musical talent, will perform at the Holiday Inn in Birmingham city centre on October 28 alongside Anna Irakleous.

The dad of three was studying in Romania when a night out as a student changed his life and he went on to star in a magazine photo shoot with supermodel Naomi Campbell.

Tsalikis was partying with fellow university students at a Greek nightclub called Olympia Pallas in Bucharest when he took the microphone and began to sing. The following day he decided to begin his singing career. Although despite this decision, he completed his studies in 1998, got his degree and then returned to Greece.

His first single ‘Genikos’ was produced by Panos Falaras and released by Sony music.

Following the release he moved to Athens and started appearing with Greek stars Antonis Remos, Natassa Theodoridou and Stelios Dionysiou at Apollon Palace.

His deal with Sony lasted for two years. In 2000 he joined Nitro Music and released his first album ‘An eimouna paliopedo’ a year later.

The song titled ‘Me halaei’ was a huge success and he became widely known with queues forming outside nightclub Romeo where he was appearing with Elli Kokkinou.

He went on to take part in a TV comedy series ‘10 mikroi Mitsoi’ then the accolades followed. In 2001 his first album attained gold certification and he was awarded with the title of ‘Person of the Year 2001’.

In 2002, at ‘ARION’ music awards he won Best New Singer. His second album titled ‘Gia sena kseniktaw!’was released by Nitro music and attained gold certification. Tsalikis was photographed with supermodel Naomi Campbell for the cover of NITRO magazine.
